MANUFACTURING

We understand there is always more we can do to help kick single use. That is why we have implemented a number of environmental and social programs designed to make our business cleaner and planet healthier.

WE FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT IT'S NOT WHERE IT'S MADE THAT MATTERS.  IT'S HOW IT'S MADE.

The majority of our products are manufactured in China with partners we trust and know are doing business the right way. While manufacturing in China has a rocky reputation, we are proud to do business with great partners who are committed to providing high-quality, ethically-made products.

We hope to instill confidence with our growing community of customers and stakeholders that we are managing the environmental and social issues associated with the manufacturing of all products we sell.

We partner with two sewing factories in China to manufacture our reusable bags, packs, and totes. During twice yearly visits we check in on improvements from audit results, talk about new projects, strengthen our long-term working relationship and swim up our supply chain to ensure our standards are being upheld for everything from thread to hardware and hangtags.

MEET OUR SUPPLIERS

We partner with factories in Cambodia and China to manufacture our reusable bags, packs, and totes. During twice yearly visits we check in on improvements from audit results, talk about new projects, strengthen our long-term working relationship and swim up our supply chain to ensure our standards are being upheld for everything from thread to hardware and hangtags.

ChicoBag actively supports fair labor and workplace standards throughout our entire supply chain. We are proud to be a Category C Licensee of the Fair Labor Association. The Fair Labor Association works collaboratively with colleges and universities, NGOs, and socially responsible companies to improve working conditions in factories around the world.

We visit our tier one suppliers and conduct independent, third-party audits to ensure compliance with the Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing and Production. For more information on the Fair Labor Association visit www.fairlabor.org

Pactics Cambodia Co. Ltd., Siem Reap, Cambodia

We are proud to have Pactics as our manufacturing partner since 2017.  Childcare is a big focus for the company. “Eighty per cent of our employees are female so we opened our onsite crèche to allow women to breastfeed. We have free daycare for all employees’ children between three months of age up until 12-15 months, and after that we subsidise $15 a month for all employees’ childcare. There’s also a first aid room staffed by a nurse, a subsidised canteen and Pactics pays half of the cost for motorbike helmets for all staff.

Employees go through a rigorous week-long training programme, learning about safety, labour rights, sexual harassment and hygiene,” says Piet Holten, Founder and President of Pactics Co. Ltd. “Everyone says we are so exceptional, but all we’re doing is following what the law demands. For instance, the law states you must have childcare if you have more than 100 staff, but this isn’t enforced. We are not exceptional – everyone else is simply below standard if they don’t follow the law.”

Other Suppliers

We make it a priority to know where all components of our products are coming from to ensure compliance with our social and environmental standards. From buttons and cording to dye shops and fabric mills, we make an effort to visit each and every one of the suppliers for our products. Curious where a component of your product came from? Just ask, we’ll track down the answer for you.

Safety and Testing

Transparency is at the core of our company values. We understand that it can be difficult to make the right purchasing decision, especially in a market full of green washing. There are other alternatives to ChicoBag brand products, but it is important to consider that the price you pay for your reusable bag is not the same as the costs. In addition to rigorous testing, we are also a member of the  Fair Labor Association , a  Green America Approved Business  and a  Certified B Corporation . We want you to rest assured that all ChicoBag brand products you buy are safe for you and the environment.

Your Safety is Our #1 Priority
The safety of you and your family is just as important to us as protecting the environment. We know your children and families use our products, and so do ours. We are committed to upholding the most stringent testing standards for all ChicoBag brand products to keep you, your family, and the environment safe and healthy.

About Our Testing Process
ChicoBag utilizes third-party lead contamination testing on every production run and upholds rigorous testing standards that exceed government regulations. Your safety is important to us so we adhere to lead testing standards even more strict than those set forth by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). Our products adhere to ASTM F963-07 which is the standard for children’s toys.

Regulations vary by state, so ChicoBag products are also tested quarterly to comply with the Toxics in Packaging Legislation currently adopted by 19 states. This means we not only test our bags for lead, but also for Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, and Mercury.

Who Does Our Testing?
The bulk of our testing is done by  Forensic Analytical Laboratories .

If you have any questions or concerns about the safety of our products, please do not hesitate to contact us at  [email protected] .
