Operations Lead

The Operations Lead reports to the Operations Manager. The Operations Lead interacts with various departments and their team members to maintain equipment, identify efficiencies and prepare orders for fulfillment. The Operations Lead works directly with Operations Associates to provide guidance on priorities for the day, best practices, and assist with policy development to improve efficiencies within the department.

This position is responsible for the day to day supervision of the warehouse staff, prioritization of the workload, allocation of orders, addressing performance issues and maintaining a safe workspace.

Human Resource Specialist

The HR Specialist reports to the Director of Operations and Finance. This is a part-time confidential position varying between 10 and 25 hours per week depending on company needs. Responsible for a wide variety of human resource related tasks including overseeing employee engagement, benefits administration, recruitment, employee onboarding and exits, payroll administration, and employee training programs. A general understanding of core aspects of human resources and the ability to perform a broad range of responsibilities autonomously is required.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Human Resources role.
  • Degree in Human Resources or a related field desired but not required.
  • Recruitment and interviewing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, Cal OSHA requirements, Worker’s Compensation, safety programs, and employee benefits programs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and Google Apps is desired.
  • Knowledgeable in Salesforce or comparable ERP/CRM systems is preferred, but not required.
  • Understanding of current State, Federal and local employment laws and compliance procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent judgment in dealing with highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Organizational skills and effective time management to succeed in a semi-autonomous, fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships through strong communication skills and excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Optimistic, driven, positive attitude and can-do approach to completing tasks.
  • Self-starter, able to see what needs to be done and get it done.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Ability to identify and propose solutions to problems.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a partner on human resources matters by providing guidance, assistance and support to employees, management, and supervisors.
  • Work collaboratively with employees and managers to resolve employee relations issues, including coaching on performance-related matters and associated processes.
  • Oversee all internal and external recruitments including initial phone screenings, background checks, reference checks, scheduling interviews and presenting offers.
  • Ability to do research of the local job market to ensure we are paying competitive wages.
  • Manage employee leaves including initial consult, leave planning and associated paperwork. As well as return to work procedures.
  • Complete EDD paperwork and other state or federal related documents in a timely and complete fashion for review.
  • Work with Management to maintain and update job descriptions annually.
  • Work with Management to establish clear goals for employee development, training, and engagement. Report on results and recommendations.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling employee information, files, and sensitive documents.
  • Stay up to date on Cal OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, safety, employee benefits, state and federal labor laws, etc. and keep Management up to date on changes.
  • Coordinate benefit administration for all employees including medical, dental, FSA, 401k, and supplemental insurance. Assist with filing appropriate documents for benefit renewal, open enrollment, and associated changes.
  • Bi-Weekly Payroll processing.
  • Assist in the completion of audits.
  • Develop an overall Human Resource strategy including performance management, corrective action and training programs.
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook and associated policies as needed.

Additional Items:

  • Participate in weekly Companywide meetings.
  • Suggest and help implement procedures to increase employee engagement, improve morale and efficiency.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented throughout the department.
  • All other duties as assigned.
